An Oelwein man faces a list of charges after leading Fayette County Deputies on a pursuit early this (Monday, April 22) morning.


Just before 1:30am, a Fayette County officer tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Oelwein. The driver refused to pull over, and led the deputy on a short chase, which ended when the vehicle went out of control and entered a ditch on 50th Street near Neon Road, northeast of Oelwein.

The driver, 32 year old Anthony Copley of Oelwein, was not hurt. He was arrested for Eluding, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Control, Interference with Official Acts, Littering, and Failure to Obey a traffic control device.
Copley was also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants in Fayette and Buchanan Counties.

Copley was held in the Fayette County jail, pending his initial court appearance.
The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted by Oelwein Police.
