Fatal Motorcycle Accident Near Iowa City

The Johnson County Sheriff is investigating the cause of a fatal motorcycle accident.

At about 11pm Friday, deputies were sent to the 3,000 block of Rohret Road Southwest, near Iowa City.

A motorcycle driven by 26 year old I-An Liang of Iowa City went out of control; Liang laid the motorcycle down and it slid into the ditch.

Liang was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries; according to the sheriff, he was not wearing a helmet.

His passenger, whose name was not released, was wearing a helmet; the passenger was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
