Fatal Clarksville House Fire Apparently Set by Owner

A Clarksville man, found dead in his burning home earlier this week, apparently set the fire himself.

Authorities were called at about 9pm Monday, when a passerby spotted the blaze coming from the house in the 100 block of Baughman Street in Clarksville.

Heat from the flames prevented firefighters from entering the building at first; when they finally did get in a few hours later, they found the body of 50 year old Danny Coonley.

An autopsy will be scheduled.

According to investigators, a note was found that indicated Coonley set the fire. The home was a total loss.

Fire departments from Clarksville and Allison responded, along with the Butler County Sheriff, Butler County Emergency Management, Clarksville Police and Clarksville Ambulance. The investigation continues.
