
Farmer Seriously Hurt in Horse-Drawn Rake Accident
A Fairbank man is recovering from a serious farming accident that happened on an Amish farm in rural Buchanan County.
The accident was reported to the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, August 25th, at around 6pm. It happened in the 1300 block of 150th Street, southeast of Fairbank in Amish country.
57 year old David Stutzman was using a horse-drawn rake in a field, when he fell and the rake went over him.
Stutzman had serious injuries to one of his legs; he was airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City for treatment.
The sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Fairbank Fire Department and AirCare.
