Emergency Text to Sheriff Nets Arrest of Local Man

Authorities have arrested an area man after getting an emergency text message.

Yesterday (Wednesday, March 22), the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 text from a rural Oelwein address.

Responding officers found 39 year old Jeremiah Larson of rural Oelwein, had a valid Fayette County warrant for a probation violation. The original charge was possession of a controlled substance. Larson was taken into custody and held in the county jail on $2,500 bond.

A Fayette County deputy arrested a Hazleton man late Wednesday (March 22) night, when the officer stopped to assist him.

Just before 10:30pm, the deputy discovered a vehicle that was stopped in the intersection of "J" Avenue and Highway 3, east of Oelwein. Following an investigation, the driver, 49 year old Jeffrey Coleman, was arrested on charges of Operating While Intoxicated-2nd Offense, and having an Open Container of alcohol in the vehicle.

He was held overnight.
