The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating a one-vehicle accident that put an Elkader teen in the hospital.

At about 6:45am Wednesday (Sept. 26), authorities received a report of a car that had rolled into a ditch, just south of Elgin. A car driven by 18 year old Jordan Kline was northbound on Cedar Road, when he failed to negotiate a curve. Kline's car left the road, entered a wooded area, then rolled several times, coming to rest on the driver's side. Kline was able to get out of the wrecked car and call for help. He was taken to the Elkader hospital for treatment. The car, a 2001 Dodge Stratus, was totaled.

Also early Wednesday morning, the Fayette County Sheriff was called to a car vs deer accident, east of West Union. It happened at about 2:45am, in the 7,000 block of Golden Road, 3 miles east of West Union. An SUV driven by 53 year old Kurt Stammeyer of Elgin, struck a deer in the road. No one was injured, but his 2006 Chevrolet Equinox was totaled.
