I think it's safe to say we've all gotten pretty damn angry at certain points in our lives. Whether it's with your parents, friends, bullies, our stupid friends, our husbands or wives, or whomever, things have escalated beyond the point we'd like them to. Shouting matches, name calling, etc.

In the grand scheme of things -- especially after this story from Ottumwa, Iowa -- that's nothing.

Brittany Waite, a 32-year-old in the southeast Iowa city, has made us all feel a little better about our outbursts of anger on today.

Per Ottumwa Radio who obtained court records, "At approximately 2:50 PM on Monday, Waite was involved in a property dispute with another person on North Hancock Street.

Authorities say the former Indian Hills Community College student 'procured a machete and struck the victim in the back, knee, and side which caused lacerations.'"

The article added that she is currently being charged with "assault while displaying a dangerous weapon," which is an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to CriminalDefenseLawyer.com, "Assault in Iowa will be punished as an aggravated misdemeanor when it is intended to cause serious injury, but does not actually cause serious injury, or is against a protected employee or constitutes a hate crime and causes bodily injury or mental illness. Using or displaying a dangerous weapon can also be an aggravated misdemeanor, though if the weapon is intended to be used to injure or intimidate another person, the crime is treated as a felony. Aggravated misdemeanors are punishable by up to two years in jail and a fine of $625 to $6,250."

After the assault, she was arrested by local authorities and taken to Wapello County jail. She is currently free after posting her bond.
