
Eastern Iowa Man Charged with Fatal Accident
NORWAY, Iowa (AP) — A 23-year-old man faces several charges after driving a vehicle that crashed and killed his passenger in Benton County.
Mark Himmelsbach of Norway is charged with homicide by vehicle and operating under the influence in the March 12 wreck.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Himmelsbach was driving the vehicle when it failed to go around a curve and went into a ditch. The vehicle rolled and ejected 20-year-old Christine Ballard. Ballard was pronounced dead at the scene.
Online court records indicate Himmelsbach's bond was set at $25,000. He bonded out of jail on Friday.
His preliminary hearing is set for March 30.
