Eastern Iowa Dog Visits Hospitalized Owner
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A woman's family is still baffled as to how her dog was able to sniff her way to find the Cedar Rapids hospital she was staying at.
Nancy Franck had a surgery at Mercy Medical Center and was there for about two weeks.
Last Saturday, Franck's husband discovered their miniature schnauzer Sissy had run away from home. The residence is about 15 to 20 blocks away from the hospital.
Hospital workers later found Sissy, who strolled into the facility through automatic doors. A security guard used her tags to call Franck's husband, Dale, at home.
Dale Franck says Sissy was on a mission to see her mom but simply couldn't find the right elevator to take.
