The annual Easter Basket Hunt in Oelwein, organized by the Oelwein Chamber and Area Development office, has been cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic, however the chamber is asking residents to help celebrate the season, in another way.

Due to the corona-virus outbreak, the chamber made the decision to cancel the hunt, in which numerous young children and their families were expected to participate. The event will not be held out of caution to prevent the spread of the virus to numerous children and adults.

The hunt had been scheduled for Saturday, April 4th; this year Easter Sunday is April 12th.

Instead, this year OCAD is asking everyone to put bunnies in their windows. They can be stuffed toys, posters, pictures, or painted on your windows. Area businesses are invited to participate, too.

Families may then walk or drive around town and count the bunnies in the residential and business windows, take a picture and post it to Facebook, with hashtag #Oelweinbunnyhunt.
