Fayette County authorities have arrested the suspect in a recent rural break-in, in which a gun and the owner's dog were stolen.


Just before midnight on May 28th, the Fayette County Sheriff received a 911 call, reporting that a door had been kicked in at a residence on the southeast side of Waucoma, and items were taken. Some belongings were destroyed during the burglary.

The stolen items included the owner's dog, and a firearm.

Two days later, a Facebook post led to the recovery of the dog, located about an hour away from the residence.

Following a week-long investigation, 23 year old Clayton Fettkether of Dunkerton was taken into custody on June 10th. He is being charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree, Arson 2nd Degree, and Theft in the 3rd Degree.

Most of the stolen merchandise, including the weapon, were recovered.

Fettkether was taken to the Fayette County jail, but released after posting $15,000 cash bond.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office assisted Fayette County in the arrest.
