A local man has been arrested on assault and drug charges, while police continue to investigate a theft and some vandalism.

At about 3:30pm Monday (Aug. 15), Oelwein Police took 35 year old Harry Schultz Jr. into custody. The arrest was in connection to a disturbance reported August 13th in the 200 block of 12th Avenue SE. Schultz was initially charged with Assault-simple misdemeanor.

During the arrest, authorities found a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in is possession. Schultz was then charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class "C" Felony, and Possession of Drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

An Oelwein woman was cited by police for Failure to Abate, in the 10 block of 3rd Street NW. 34 year old Tanya Kapler was cited Monday night (Aug. 15).

Oelwein Police are investigating some vandalism and a theft.

The theft was reported shortly after 8pm Monday, from the 800 block of East Charles.

The criminal mischief complaint was called in to police Monday morning, from the 100 block of 1st Street SW.
