The Fayette County Sheriff's Office reports 2 recent traffic accidents, in which the drivers were charged.


The latest accident happened at about 11pm Monday (Aug. 19), at the intersection of Oak Road and 282nd Street, southeast of St. Lucas. 20 year old Erasmo De La Garza of Mission Texas, was driving in an erratic fashion, he lost control, and the car went into the ditch. No injuries were reported; the car, a 2012 Chrysler 300, had $2500 in damage. De La Garza is being charged with OWI, Open Container, Failure to Maintain Control, and Careless driving. His passenger, 23 year old Luis Zamora of Storm Lake was arrested for Public Intoxication-1st Offense, and Open Container.

The other accident happened just before 10am Friday, in the 26,000 block of Highway 18 near Clermont. 47 year old Pamela Nelson of Helenville, Wisconsin had stopped at a controlled construction zone, waiting for the opposing traffic to pass through. A vehicle driven by 42 year old Katie Willis of Monona, rear-ended Nelson's car, totaling both vehicles. Nelson and 3 passengers were taken to the West Union hospital, to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Willis is being charged with Failure to Stop in an Assured Clear Distance. Emergency workers from Clermont assisted the Fayette County Sheriff.
