One person has died in a single vehicle accident in which a car flipped over several times, landing upside down in a creek.

The Linn County Sheriff, Fairfax Fire Department, and Area Ambulance service was summoned at about 3am today (Wednesday, June 5), to the accident site on Highway 30, east of Sisley Grove Road, north of Fairfax.

Emergency workers found a car upside down, partially submerged in Morgan Creek. The driver had been trapped inside.

Authorities determined that the car was westbound on Highway 30 during heavy rainfall, went out of control, entered the median, then rolled several times. The vehicle had rolled over the guardrail, coming to rest on it's top, submerging the driver in the creek.

The driver was extricated from the wreckage and taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, where he was later pronounced dead.

The name of the victim is not being released until family members are notified.
