An Oelwein man is being cited for a pickup rollover that put his passenger in the hospital.

Shortly after 10pm Saturday (Oct. 31), the Fayette County Sheriff received a 911 call, reporting a rollover accident on South Cass Street in Westgate.

Responding deputies discovered the driver, later identified as 28 year old Jaide Donald Schultz of Oelwein, had fled the scene, leaving his passenger. The passenger, whose name was not released, was taken to Mercy One hospital in Oelwein for treatment of minor injuries.

The 2006 Ford F-150 pickup was found upside down in a ditch. The vehicle had apparently been southbound, when it left the road and rolled.

Witnesses identified the driver as Jaide Schultz, who was found the next day. Schultz is being charged with Failure to Maintain Control, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability-Accident, and Reckless Driving.

The Westgate Ambulance and Westgate Fire Department assisted the Fayette County Sheriff at the scene.
