Domestic Assault Lands Local Man in Jail

A call to authorities regarding a domestic assault, has resulted in the arrest of a West Union man.

The incident took place at about 6pm Friday (June 23), when the Fayette County Sheriff received a report of a domestic assault in the 20,000 block of Garden Road, southeast of West Union.

An investigation determined that 40 year old Jonathan Vandervort allegedly assaulted a woman. Vandevort was taken to the Fayette County jail on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury. He was held until his initial court appearance.

And in a separate incident on Friday, Fayette County authorities arrested 52 year old Jeffery Woods of Oelwein, on a felony warrant for a controlled substance violation.

He is being held in jail on a no-bond warrant.
