Deputy Injured During Arrest of Suspect on Warrants
A Northeast Iowa man is in jail, after he injured an officer during his arrest on outstanding warrants.
Just after 5pm Tuesday (July 3), Winneshiek County deputies were attempting to serve a warrant at a residence in Decorah, when 44 year old Lance Souhrada of Cresco was just leaving. Souhrada had several active warrants from a multitude of counties.
Souhrada tried to run from the officers, but was caught and taken into custody. During the arrest, one of the deputies sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Souhrada was taken to the Winneshiek County jail in Decorah, on a charge of Interference with Official Acts-Resulting in a Serious Injury, as well as giving authorities false identification information.
Souhrada will eventually be transferred to the other counties that have warrants for his arrest.
