Deceased Waterloo Lawyer’s Assets to be Sold
WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — Cars, boats and more items previously belonging to a Waterloo attorney who killed himself before allegations surfaced that he had stolen millions of dollars from clients will soon be up for sale to offset his debts.
A judge last week authorized the sale of David Alan Roth's personal property to pay back loans he took out before he killed himself in September.
The decision comes in response to allegations that Roth stole or mishandled client money, prompting the filing of claims worth millions of dollars against Roth's estate.
An attorney says most of Roth's vehicles, including a Jeep, trucks and a boat, are slated for private transactions at court-approved prices, while trailers, snowmobiles and others might be sold at a private auction.
