An Illinois teacher's TikTok is going viral after telling parents to leave the cupcakes at home this school year.

What she's saying has some people worked up after Ann Brackemyer voiced what she described as an "unpopular opinion."

What Brackemyer is saying is that her kindergartners don't care as much for cupcakes as they do for other treats when it comes to celebrating birthdays.

In the video, Brackemyer says, "They make a ginormous mess, and the kids honestly don't eat them," adding, "The frosting gets all over, and it's just too much for them."

Instead of complaining and telling parents to forget the cupcakes, the video, which has now racked up over 2.4 million views, urges parents to try something more "simple" and "easy."

Brackemyer mentioned donuts from Casey's and even Little Debbie's Cosmic Brownies.

I can tell you both go over big time in my house, and she's not wrong.

But as Brackemyer predicted, her opinion would be unpopular, and she did receive some hate from other TikTok users such as:

  • Is it your birthday or theirs?
  • Send cupcakes! Extra frosting.
  • I don't understand how ice cream is less messy than cupcakes.
  • Sending cupcakes.
  • Aren't you a bundle of joy?
  • As a teacher, I literally bring cupcakes for my kids to enjoy. They're kids. Chill lol
  • Bring cupcakes and ice cream; I got it. You seem fun.

While some disagree, I can tell you that, as far removed as I am from being a kindergarten student, I would take a Cosmic Brownie over a cupcake any day of the week.
