Deadly Fall From NE Iowa Bluff, and Weekend Fatality Accidents
A deadly incident in which a person fell from a bluff at a state park, is under investigation.
At about 4:20am Saturday (Sept. 18), authorities were called to Bellevue State Park in Bellevue, in Jackson County, where someone had fallen from a bluff.
The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other information on the incident was released, except that it is still under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
The DNR was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff, Bellevue Police Department, Bellevue Fire Department, and Maquoketa Police Department.
Officials note that the park remains open for visitors.
A weekend motorcycle accident in Clayton County, has taken the life of a Marion man.
It happened at about 12:30 Saturday (Sept. 18), south of Guttenberg, at the intersection of Great River Road and Pleasant Avenue.
62 year old Barry Woodson of Marion was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound, when he lost control.
The bike left the road, went into a ditch, where Woodson's head and neck are struck an overhead tree branch, causing the fatal injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Clayton County Sheriff, Guttenberg Police, and Holy Cross EMS.

A single vehicle accident north of Fairfax, has resulted in a fatality.
Just before 10pm Sunday, Linn County emergency workers were summoned to the Highway 30 and Highway 100 interchange.
Responding units found that a semi was traveling east on Highway 30, left the road, went into the median, then struck a guardrail and bridge column.
The driver and only occupant of the semi, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver's name is not being released until relatives can be notified.
The Linn County sheriff continues the investigation; they were assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Fairfax Fire Department, and Area Ambulance service.

Authorities were called out to a single vehicle accident near Springville this morning (Monday, Sept. 20) that sent an area woman to the hospital.
At about 7:45am today (Monday), the Linn County Sheriff, Springville Fire and Anamosa Ambulance were called out to a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Springville Road and Secrist Road.
A sport utility vehicle driven by Kelly Hartley of Cedar Rapids, failed to stop at the T-intersection, went into the ditch, through a fence, finally stopping in a cornfield. Hartley apparently was distracted and did not notice the stop sign.
Hartley was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
