Authorities have released the name of an Eastern Iowa man who died in a traffic accident in Linn County.


The accident happened Sunday morning (Aug. 25) at about 9:45am, at the intersection of Williams Boulevard and Prairie Avenue in Fairfax.

A northbound vehicle, driven by 81 year old Larry Luther of Amana, collided almost head-on with an oncoming vehicle that was attempting a left turn, and drove into the path of Luther's vehicle.

Luther was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, his wife, 78 year old Donna Luther, was taken to Mercy Medical center in Cedar Rapids, to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The other driver, 17 year old Megan Gradoville of Cedar Rapids, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff.
