2017 Iowa High School Football Week 6 Rankings
A dozen teams teams from the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa are featured in this week's Iowa high school football poll, released by the Associated Press on Monday (Oct. 2, 2017).
Five of the area squads are ranked among the top five in their respective classes. Among them are top-rated Don Bosco (6-0) and No. 4 Tripoli (6-0) in the eight-player survey.
The Class-A rankings include Gladbrook-Reinbeck (6-0) at No. 2 and Wapsie Valley (6-0) at No. 4. Following the Rebels and Warriors are No. 6 Hudson (6-0) and No. 10 East Buchanan (5-1), which joined the poll this week after not being ranked last week.
Cedar Falls (5-1) cracked the top five in Class-4A last week. The Tigers kept their No. 5 ranking in the latest poll after a decisive 35-6 win over Cedar Rapids Washington Friday night.
The other rated squads from the area include Waverly-Shell Rock (No. 6, Class-3A), West Delaware (No. 9, 3A), Waukon (No. 8, 2A), La Porte City Union (No. 10, 2A) and Denver (No. 9, 1A). Waverly-Shell Rock (6-0) is the only unbeaten in this group. The rest are 5-1.
