County Sheriff Busy with 2 Accidents, Minutes Apart
Authorities are investigating 2 weekend accidents in Winneshiek County.
The first one happened shortly after 2:30pm Saturday (May 26) on Canoe Ridge Road and River Road in Pleasant Township. A motorcycle driven by 57 year old Timothy Morris of Onalaska, Wisconsin, went out of control where the pavement turned to gravel. The cycle went into the ditch and overturned.
A female passenger, whose name was not released, was thrown off the bike; she had to be taken by ambulance to the Decorah hospital. There was $500 damage to the Harley Davidson motorcycle. Charges are pending.
The second accident occurred about 20 minutes later, just before 3pm, on Town Line Road in Madison Township. An eastbound car driven by 22 year old Amber Cole of Shell Rock, crossed the center line, went out of control, and entered the ditch, where it rolled several times, coming to rest on it's top.
Cole was taken to the Decorah hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Cole is being cited for Failure to Maintain Control. The Iowa State Patrol assisted the Winneshiek County Sheriff.
The investigation continues, and more charges are pending. Damages were estimated at $15,000.
