The Iowa men's basketball team's crushing loss to the Oregon Ducks in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament certainly put a damper on what was a fun season for Iowa fans. Watching two of the best players to ever wear the "black & gold" made it extra special. But could we be seeing one of those two seniors back in an Iowa uniform for the 2021/22 season?

We all know Luka Garza is off to pursue an NBA career, but it was Iowa record holder for most 3-pointers made in a career and the all-time assist leader, Jordan Bohannon that sent out a tweet that had Iowa fans all abuzz on Tuesday afternoon.

Blackheartgoldpants.com"in a surprise tweet, Jordan Bohannon announced his intention to return to the Iowa Hawkeyes, should an Iowa name, image, and likeness bill get passed later this week".

Bohannon tagged Iowa Senator Nate Boulton in the tweet. As mentioned by Blackheartgoldpants.com, Boulton is also a workers’ rights lawyer the pushed the bipartisan bill through committee earlier this year with the help of Bohannon and others. Boulton tweeted in February that "Senate File 245, passed the Judiciary Committee on a voice vote without opposition". But as Bohannon said in his tweet, the bill needs to be voted on by Thursday or it will die. It's unclear as to why there has been no vote on the bill as of yet.

As college basketball fans might remember, just before March Madness was going to get underway a few weeks ago, Bohannon, Michigan's Isaiah Livers, and Rutgers' Geo Baker, all tweeted out "#NotNCAAProperty" as part of a protest. The group asked for meetings with high ranking officials, and it looks like they'll get that wish granted. They have a meeting with NCAA president Mark Emmert on Thursday morning, along with U.S. Senator Cory Booker and possibly the Biden Administration.

So now we wait and see what happens in Des Moines on Thursday, if this bill gets passed in Iowa, it could start a chain reaction across the nation that would change the face of college athletics forever.

In the meantime, Jordan Bohannon fans like myself can only hope for a 6th season for the sharp-shooter from Marion. He gets criticized for his defense, but what he brings to the offensive table would be welcomed back next year.  I enjoy watching "J-Bo" shoot the three from all over the court, but right now it appears that "Senate File 245" might be the equivalent of a last second half-court heave at the buzzer. Now, we just have to wait and see if it goes in.
