Collision of Pickup and Tanker Truck Seriously Injures One
An Arlington motorist faces several charges following a weekend accident, between his pickup and a tanker truck.
Shortly after 4pm Sunday (Nov. 25), the Buchanan County Sheriff was called to a traffic accident in the 1400 block of Washburn Avenue, south of Lamont. A pickup driven by 41 year old Benjamin McAllen, was headed north, when it crossed the center line of the road, into the path of a tanker truck, driven by 45 year old Justin Stone of Manchester.
Stone swerved to avoid a head-on crash, and the vehicles sideswiped each other. McAllen's pickup went into a ditch, striking a utility pole, coming to rest in a corn field.
A passenger in the pickup, 47 year old Shad McAllen of Arlington, had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was taken to the Manchester hospital, to be treated for serious injuries.
Benjamin McAllen was arrested and charged with Driving While his License is Barred, Driving While his License is Suspended, and cited for Failure to Yield Half of the Roadway. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Lamont Fire Department, Dundee Fire Department and Regional Medical Center Ambulance Service.
