Stone swerved to avoid a head-on crash, and the vehicles sideswiped each other. McAllen's pickup went into a ditch, striking a utility pole, coming to rest in a corn field.
A passenger in the pickup, 47 year old Shad McAllen of Arlington, had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was taken to the Manchester hospital, to be treated for serious injuries.

Benjamin McAllen was arrested and charged with Driving While his License is Barred, Driving While his License is Suspended, and cited for Failure to Yield Half of the Roadway. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Lamont Fire Department, Dundee Fire Department and Regional Medical Center Ambulance Service.
