Cody Johnson brought the house down at his sold-out March 18th show in Coralville.  While the majority of the night was full of amazing live country music, there were a few moments during Johnson's set that he decided to get serious.

Cody Johnson made history in Coralville this month. Not only did he sell out the 6,600 seat Xtream Arena, but he was the very first artist to do so. Johnson even beat out Toby Keith for that spot.

Keith stopped at the brand new arena last year.

Right before the Texas native hit the Iowa stage that evening, he received some amazing news. His smash-hit 'Til You Can't' had just gone #1 on country radio. You can check out more about that special career making moment here.

One of the other major moments of the night, was when the country singer gave an impassioned speech. It all started out with Johnson asking for various law enforcement, first responders, military and healthcare workers to raise their hands.

Then he addressed every member of the crowd who didn't have their hand up.

"I want you to remind yourself of this fact. Politicians have absolutely nothing to do with your freedom, these people do!" Johnson declared.

It's a tradition at Cody Johnson's shows that the singer will pay tribute to this group of people. His support for law enforcement and first responders can be spotted as soon as fans get to their seats.

Hung in a prominent spot on the Coralville stage were two flags, both clearly showing his support for the Blue Lives Matter movement.

"These people don't care whether you are left, they don't care if you are right!" the singer exclaimed to the crowd, "they don't care if you are brown, yellow, green, blue, or white!"

"All these people care about is red, white, and blue!" the singer says over the loud hum of the crowd.

"I don't give a damn who you voted for!" Johnson moves to the front of the stage to emphasize his point.

"Because somebody of all races, of all religions, of all backgrounds died on our soil and foreign soil for you to have that freedom to be different anyway."
