A recent traffic stop in Clayton County has resulted in the arrest of 2 area men on drug charges.


Shortly after 9pm last Friday (April 24), the Clayton County Sheriff pulled over a pickup on Highway 18, near the intersection of Giard Road, west of McGregor.

When officers suspected drug activity, the Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Police Department K-9 Unit was called in to assist.

A search warrant was then obtained for the vehicle; the subsequent search turned up 43.7 grams of Methamphetamine.

The driver, 46 year old Michael Werges of Marquette, and 52 year old Kenneth Marketto of Prairie du Chien, were charged and arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) with Intent to Deliver.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by police departments in Prairie du Chien and Monona.
