Two members of a Southwest Wisconsin fire Department are being charged with theft, for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in donations to the department.


According to the Grant County Sheriff, Bagley Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ryne Jackley of Bagley is being charged with Theft-in a Business Setting of less than $2,500.

The fire department's secretary and treasurer, Jodi Morris of rural Mount hope, is charged with the felony of Theft-in a Business Setting of more than $10,000.

The theft came to light in March when a local bank notified the sheriff's office that there was suspicious activity on the account. About $12,500 was missing, in money donated to the volunteer fire department.

Jackley and Morris were charged Monday.

The two suspects are accused of taking the money that had already been deposited, then using it for personal needs.

Both will make their initial court appearance on June 7th.
