An early morning chase in Fayette County has resulted in the death of a Missouri man who was originally from Northeast Iowa.

The incident began at about 1:45am Saturday (July 14), in the city of Wadena.

A Fayette County deputy attempted to stop a car on Mill Street, when a high speed chase began.

The car, a 2008 Spectra driven by 28 year old Jared Hill of Jefferson, Missouri, formerly of Oelwein, crossed over into the other lane of traffic, then onto the shoulder, colliding head on with a parked  2007 Dodge Ram pickup, which was not occupied.

Hill was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The accident was investigated by the
Iowa Stater Patrol and Fayette County sheriff, assisted by the Wadena Fire Department.
