Four people have been injured, three from Oelwein and one from Cedar Falls, in a four-vehicle accident in Cedar Falls.


According to the Iowa State Patrol, it happened at about 6pm Tuesday (Jan. 8), at the intersection of U.S. Highway 58 and Viking Road, which has been the site of numerous accidents.

The chain reaction accident happened when a pickup driven by 18 year old John Lambert of Waterloo, went out of control and rear-ended a car driven by 42 year old Jenna Berendzen of Cedar Falls. Her car was pushed into the back of a car driven by 27 year old Ashley Welter of Waterloo, who in turn struck the rear of a car driven by 18 year old Lawren Winfield of Oelwein.

Berendzen as well as three occupants in Winfield's car, the driver and two passengers, were treated for injuries. Winfield's passengers were identified as 56 year old Pandora Balladolid and 32 year old Jewel Jones, both from Oelwein.

Lambert, the driver of the pickup, was charged with Failure to Maintain Control.
