Century Old Dubuque Company Continues US Expansion
It’s always cool to watch a local company succeed, especially one that’s roots span back 100 years. This is the case for a lumberyard whose roots have been in Northeast Iowa since the United States President was Theodore Roosevelt in 1904.
Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., headquartered in Dubuque, has been selling quality lumber throughout the Midwest since 1904. In order to remain a leader in its field, the company has adapted to the everchanging environment around it- which has helped it survive two World Wars and widespread economic hardships.
In 2021, Spahn & Rose purchased Metro Building Products which is based in Georgia, and their most recent purchase agreement will compliment that purchase nicely.
In a release from the Dubuque company, the company entered into agreements with Still Lumber in Georgia.
Like Spahn & Rose, Still Lumber has a long history of providing quality, expert service to contractor and homeowner customers. We’re proud to have Still Lumber join the Spahn & Rose family.”
This recent acquisition marks the company’s fourth major addition. Other additions include Dunn Lumber in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, in February 2019; Moeller & Walter Lumber in Reinbeck, Iowa, in February 2020; and Metro Building Products in August 2021.
The Iowa native lumber company has proved itself as a leader in the lumber world. This year, Spahn & Rose was recognized as LBM Journal’s Dealer of the Year,
“Dealer of the Year describes a company in which leadership excels at identifying underserved—or emerging—markets, satisfying customers, and constantly working to grow and improve business.
