Three years ago, you might have heard of competitive figure skater Timothy LeDuc. The athlete competed at the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and made history as the first openly gay athlete to win a U.S. pairs title. LeDuc ended up taking home the gold with their skating partner, Ashley Cain-Gribble.

LeDuc just made history this week.

Timothy LeDuc now identifies as non-binary. This champion figure skater and their partner, Cain-Gribble competed at the 2022 U.S. Figure Skating Competition this week. This competition just so happens to be the very same one that the duo competed at several years earlier, according to NBC Conneticut.

Last year they won bronze in their national event.

During this competition, the duo vyed for a spot on the U.S. Olympic skating team. On Thursday, January 6th the team broke a national record along with making history. The team skated last of the eight teams competing for a spot on the Olympic team. Cain-Gibble and LeDuc's routine was set to music from the film "The White Crow."

The skating team ended up earning a score that would be considered third best in the world for the season, according to the Boston Globe. They broke the national record for pair short program with 79.39 points and also received a standing ovation at the 2022 U.S. Championships.

This score shot them right into first place at the qualifiers, earning them a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. Not only did the team qualify, but this win means that Timothy LeDuc of Cedar Rapids has just made history as the first-ever non-binary winter Olympian.

The 2022 Winter Olympics will kick off Friday, February 4th.

Roseanne Barr Abandoned Iowa Mansion in Eldon, IA

I fell into a rabbit hole when I found out that Roseanne Barr almost had a mansion in Iowa. After seeing the current state of the property on Facebook, I was amazed that such an extravagant project could be so quickly overtaken by nature. Only two hours away from Waterloo, this abandoned field could have hosted some of the coolest and elite Hollywood parties in the Midwest. The current photos were taken by Gable Fry on a recent trip he took.
