A Cedar Falls man is being charged with causing a traffic accident in Linn County, that put him in the hospital.


It happened at about 11am Tuesday (Jan. 15) on Highway 30, near the intersection with Irish Lane, west of Mt. Vernon.

A vehicle driven by 39 year old Anthony Weltruski of Cedar Falls, was headed east on Highway 30, when his vehicle crossed the center line, striking an oncoming vehicle driven by 53 year old Creig (sp) Dudley of Grinnell.

Both vehicles then went into nearby ditches; a third vehicle, driven by 37 year old James Kraayenbrink of Cedar Rapids, then struck vehicle debris from the first accident, left in the roadway. He was not injured.

Weltruski was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, to be treated for minor injuries.

Weltruski is being charged with Failure to Yield Half of the Roadway.

The accident was covered by the Linn County Sheriff, with assistance from Mt. Vernon Police, Lisbon Police, Iowa DOT, Mt. Vernon Fire, Mt. Vernon Ambulance, and Linn County Sheriff's Rescue.
