Brooks & Dunn Get a Second ‘Reboot’ With Another Duets Album
Brooks & Dunn are back with another duets album, revamping 18 of their most beloved country hits into collaborations with an array of modern stars.
On Monday (Sept. 16), the Country Hall of Fame duo announced Reboot II: A batch of songs that will follow their hit 2019 duets effort, Reboot.
Once again, they're teaming up with a slew of country artists that will help find new vision for the reimagined songs — and once again, the project features artists who are early in their upwards trajectory toward superstardom.
"The fun part was we weren't chasing the original recordings or arrangements or our versions," Ronnie Dunn explains to Billboard. "We turned them loose to do whatever they wanted to do and, I'm biased, but it was really refreshing."
The duo also warned fans that some of these songs are experimental — much more so than any of the tracks on the first Reboot.
For example, on the first duets album, Brooks & Dunn's classic hit "Boot Scootin' Boogie" was handled by traditional-leaning country act Midland; this time around, rock group Halestorm tries their hand at the track. Another straight-ahead Reboot cover — "Brand New Man," with Luke Combs — will be reimagined by Warren Zeiders as a "Nirvana kind of groove" on this album.
"I mean, this is gonna offend some people," Dunn jokes.
Amid their album announcement, Brooks & Dunn are also preparing to head out on the road for their 2025 Neon Moon Tour.
