Bremer County Nursing Home Staff Getting COVID-19 Tests
The State of Iowa is opening a temporary site to test nursing home staff that work at facilities in Bremer County.
According to a press release, testing is being done by appointment only this week at Waverly-Shell Rock Middle School in Waverly. Testing will take place Wednesday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Thursday from 7 AM to 3 PM.
The Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa Department of Human Services and Iowa National Guard will be operating the testing site. The agencies are supported by the long-term care testing strike teams initiative the state is standing up to test nursing home staff.
At 9 AM Wednesday, the COVID-19 in Iowa online dashboard showed 37 long-term care facilities across the state were reporting outbreaks. Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly was the only facility listed in Bremer County.
According to state health officials, 25 of the 30 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 at Bartels have recovered. One person at the facility died from the coronavirus.
