Bicycle Accident Claims Life of Area Professor
The Iowa State Patrol has identified the driver of a bicycle who was struck and killed near North Liberty, as an area college professor.
It happened at about 6:30am Tuesday (July 19) on Highway 965 in Johnson County. 58 year old Daniel Lehn of North Liberty was riding his bike northbound, when he was struck from behind by a pickup driven by 27 year old Devin Disterhoft of Tiffin.
Lehn was taken to University Hospitals, but died from his injuries.
Lehn was a psychology professor at Coe College, and was associate dean of the faculty. Lehn had taught at Coe since 1993.
No charges have been filed.
