Authorities in Winneshiek County are asking for the public's help in gathering information on two break-in's at area businesses.


The burglaries occurred at "T'n'A's" Lounge in Ridgeway, and Twin Springs Supper Club near Decorah.

Cash and other items were taken in the separate break-in's. No other information was released.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office is aggressively investigating the two burglaries; they are also encouraging anyone with information on either of the two incidents, to contact the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office. Authorities will continue to follow up and pursue all leads. The sheriff's office phone number is 563-382-4268.

Authorities in nearby Southwest Wisconsin are also asking for help from the public, in the investigation of the theft of three kayaks.

The incident was reported to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office on Saturday (July 17). Three kayaks were taken from a Mississippi River island, just north of the Winneshiek Boat Landing, along State Highway 82, in the Township of Freeman, east of Lansing. The theft occurred between 2pm and 6pm Saturday.

The 3 kayaks were described as being red, green and purple. Anyone with information regarding the theft is being asked to contact the Crawford County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office.

And an eastern Iowa man will serve five years in prison for insurance fraud.

Thirty-one-year-old Dustin Cory Jungvirt of Davenport pleaded guilty to one count of insurance fraud, presenting false information, following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division.

Jungvirt admitted to lying about the date and time of a 2018 claim for his renter’s insurance to obtain benefits he would not have been entitled to. Jungvirt was sentenced to five years in prison to be served consecutively with recent convictions on unrelated offenses.  (Info from Radio Iowa)
