Authorities Wednesday night swarmed a rural area southeast of Waverly, where they were searching for two suspects who apparently got away from sheriff's officials in Black Hawk County.

Law enforcement officers said they were attempting to locate a man and woman who fled on foot following a pursuit that began in Waterloo. The search, which involved an Iowa State Patrol airplane and several drones, was going on in the area of 39th St. SE, south of the recreational Rail Trail. Witnesses reported seeing multiple squad cars. Some posted to Facebook pictures of a fire that was burning in the area near where the search was taking place.

In a Facebook post around 8:30 PM Wednesday, Bremer County sheriff's officials said they were assisting Black Hawk County sheriff's deputies in trying to locate the two fugitives. They were advising residents in an area west of the Boy Scouts' Ingawanis Adventure Camp to remove keys from vehicles and lock doors to their homes and outbuildings.

Authorities were also asking anyone with a personal drone not to fly in the search area.

Anyone seeing anything suspicious was being advised to call 911 or the Bremer County Sheriff's Office at 319-352-5400, No. 3.
