Arrests Made for Stolen Guns in New Year’s Party

The Fayette County Sheriff has filed charges against 3 area teenagers for allegedly breaking into a room and stealing firearms, while attending a New Year's Eve party.

The sheriff received a report on January 2nd, that an underage party with alcohol was held at a home in rural Hawkeye, the evening of December 31st. An investigation determined that during the party, a secured room in the home was broken into, and several firearms were taken from the home.

After completing the investigation, 19 year old Kameron Sikkink of New Hampton, 18 year old Paul Laganiere III of Lime Springs, and a 17 year old minor, were all charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Trafficking in Stolen Firearms, and Theft 2nd degree. Sikkink was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 24 and transported to Fayette county jail, and on Friday, Laganier was arrested and taken to jail. Both are being held on $20,000 bond and could face up to 20 years in prison if they are convicted.

Authorities also filed charges against the two people who hosted the party where minors were drinking alcoholic beverages. 18 year old Ashley Pleggenkuhle and 53 year old Kimberly Pleggekuhle, both of Hawkeye, were cited for permitting persons under 18 to consume/possess alcohol.

The Fayette County Sheriff was assisted by the police departments in Postville and Monona, and the Chickasaw County Sheriff.
