Arrest Made in Violent Sex Abuse in Waverly
Waverly Police have arrested an Ankeny man, accused of a violent sexual abuse encounter with another person.
The incident was first reported to police on December 19th of 2019, in the city of Waverly.
Following a nearly 3 month investigation, 35 year old Zachariah Sidney was taken into custody, on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree.
Sidney allegedly performed a forcible sex act on the victim against their will. A struggle followed, resulting in the victim being strangled.
The victim, whose name was not released, was able to get away from Sidney, and flee the residence. Responding police officers initially could not locate Sidney.
He was finally located and taken into custody last Friday, March 6th.
Sidney was being held in the Bremer County jail in Waverly until his initial court appearance.
The investigation continues, and more charges are pending.
