Arrest Made in Serious Assault and High Speed Chase

A Northeast Iowa man, who had recently been released from jail, now faces a list of charges after an assault and a high speed chase.

The Fayette County Sheriff received a report at about 9:15am Wednesday (Feb. 24) of an assault in progress at a rural Arlington home. A woman was found, seriously assaulted, and her cell phone was stolen.

The suspect was identified as 25 year old Blaine Recker of Arlington. Authorities put out an "attempt to locate" the vehicle. The suspect's car was spotted in the area, and when law enforcement approached, he took off.

Recker eluded officers for several miles at a high rate of speed, until he was found at a rural Lamont residence, and taken into custody.

Recker is being charged with Robbery in the first degree, Domestic Abuse serious assault, Violation of an order of protection, Eluding a pursuing law enforcement vehicle, and possession of methamphetamine and Marijuana.

Recker had been released to pre-trial supervision by the courts, following a November 2020 arrest of Burglary 2nd degree, Driving While Barred, Eluding, and 2 counts of Violation of an Order of Protection.
