Arrest Made After 2 County Chase on Highway 20
A Westgate man faces a list of charges after leading authorities on a chase from Black Hawk County, into Buchanan County.
The investigation began at about 9am Thursday (Feb. 11) when the Fayette County Sheriff was called to a home in Westgate on the report of a break-in.
Responding deputies determined that 43 year old Bryan Rodas had burglarized the residence, and stole several firearms.
An "attempt to locate" was put out to Northeast Iowa law enforcement agencies, to be on the lookout for Rodas.
Rodas was later located at the Isle Casino in Waterloo. Authorities attempted to stop him there, but a chase ensued, east on Highway 20 from Black Hawk County into Buchanan County.
The Iowa State Patrol assisted the sheriff's departments, as well as the DNR, and Waterloo and Independence Police Departments, in capturing Rodas.
The Fayette County Sheriff seized the vehicle, and found several guns, money and methamphetamine inside.
Rodas is being charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Possession of Methamphetamine, Stalking, and two counts of Violation of an Order of Protection in Fayette County.
He also faces charges in Black Hawk County. If convicted, Rodas could be sentenced to more than 30 years in prison.
