Arrest in Teen Sex Abuse and False Imprisonment

A Northeast Iowa man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a teenage girl and holding her against her will.

After a week-long investigation, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office on Monday (Aug. 14) took 34 year old Justin Cavnar of Westgate into custody at his home.

Cavnar is accused of sexually abusing a 15 year old girl in June of this year; during the assault, Cavnar held the girl against her will, and a week later, attempted to assault the juvenile again.

Cavnar is being charged with Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, False Imprisonment, and Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse.

Cavnar is being held in the Fayette County jail on $10,000 cash bond.

The Department of Human Services was notified, to find placement for the victim.

The investigation continues and more charges could be filed.
