Area Woman Rolls Car After Falling Asleep at the Wheel

A Shellsburg woman is recovering from injuries she sustained, when she fell asleep at the wheel while driving on Highway 218 in Bremer County.

The accident happened at about 1:30pm Thursday (Feb. 28) in the southbound lanes of the highway, near Plainfield.

60 year old Penny Hall of Shellsburg was driving south, when she fell asleep. Her car went out of control and rolled into the median.

Hall was taken to the Waverly hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted in the investigation by the Bremer County Sheriff's Office, Plainfield Fire and Ambulance, and Waverly Ambulance.
