Area Woman Injured When Van Crashes into Tree

The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating an accident that sent a West Union woman to the hospital.

At about 12:45pm Tuesday (Nov. 26), authorities received a 911 call, reporting that a vehicle went off the road and collided with a tree. The accident happened on Nature Road, north of West Union.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a van driven by 31 year old Khala Gerleman, was eastbound when a mechanical failure caused the vehicle to go out of control.

The van entered a ditch and struck a tree. Gerleman was taken to the West Union hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The van was totaled.

The sheriff was assisted by the West Union Fire Department, Tri-State Ambulance, and the Fayette County Engineer's Office.
