An area teenager is being cited following a two vehicle accident near Maynard over the weekend.

It happened shortly after 10am Sunday (July 12) at the intersection of Highway 150 and 100th Street, east of Maynard.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, a 17 year old Hazleton driver, whose name was not released, did not see oncoming traffic because of other traffic in the turning lane of the highway.

His car collided with a pickup pulling a camper, being driven by 34 year old Mark Schuerman of Marion. Injuries were reportedly minor, and were treated at the scene.

The teen's 2007 Chevy Impala sustained $5,000 worth of damage, while Schuerman's 2018 GMC truck and camper had about $6,000 damage.

The teen was charged with Failure to Yield Upon Entering a Through Highway.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Maynard Fire Department and Fayette Ambulance.
