Area Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting School Bus

A Northeast Iowa motorcyclist is dead, after he collided with a school bus Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 4pm Thursday (Sept. 1) between Guttenberg and Garnavillo, on Great River Road.

A southbound motorcycle driven by 50 year old Ronald Kephart of Garnavillo, collided with a Clayton Ridge school bus, that was turning west onto Lace Avenue.

Kephart was taken to the Guttenberg Hospital, but died from his injuries.

The bus driver, 53 year old Charlotte Scherer of Guttenberg, was not hurt; there were students on the bus, but none were injured.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol with assistance from the Clayton County Sheriff and Guttenberg Police.
