The Fayette County Sheriff reports that an area man was injured when his commercial tractor went into a ditch.

The accident happened late Saturday afternoon (June 23) at 80th Street and "L" Avenue, southeast of Maynard. An F932 John Deere Commercial Mower, operated by 61 year old Mark Kuennen of Maynard, hit some potholes in the road, causing the mower to strike the guard rail of a bridge, and end up in the ditch. Kuennen was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein by a private vehicle, to be treated for minor injuries. Damages were estimated at $1,000.

A young driver was injured after he swerved to avoid a deer in the road near Oran. That accident occurred at about 9:45pm Friday on "W" Avenue, near Oran. The car entered the ditch and rolled onto it's top. The 17 year old driver was treated and released at the scene. His 2008 Pontiac was totaled.

And Fayette County authorities have arrested an Elkader man on an outstanding warrant. 31 year old John Gager Jr. was wanted on a Fayette County warrant for a Parole Violation, with no bond hold. Gager was held in the Fayette County jail until his court appearance.
