A Northeast Iowa man has died in a Dubuque County traffic accident.

According to authorities, a 60 year old rural Dubuque man was driving north on Highway 52 near Durango at about 12:30am today (Tuesday, July 5), when the vehicle went off a curve and a large concrete culvert, then collided with a concrete retaining wall.

The man, whose name will be released later today, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His two female passengers had to be extricated from the wreck. Both were initially taken to Mercy hospital in Dubuque; one was transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City, but a condition report was not available.

The accident is under investigation by the Dubuque County Sheriff.
