Area Man Dies in Mower Rollover in Fayette County

A Northeast Iowa man has died from injuries he sustained in an accident involving a lawn tractor, in rural Fayette County.

The Fayette County Sheriff received a 911 call at about 1:45pm Tuesday (July 2), reporting a rollover accident that involved a lawn tractor, in the 22,000 block of 275th Street, just south of Waucoma.

An investigation indicated that the driver of the mower, 78 year old Ronald Nolte of Waucoma, was eastbound on the shoulder of the road, mowing the edge of the ditch.

The wheels of the 2011 John Deere Z-425 mower, came off the shoulder, causing the tractor to roll into the ditch, on top of Nolte.

The sheriff stated that Nolte was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Waucoma First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance Service, and Iowa Medical Examiner's Office.
